What is Science Olympiad?

Elementary Science Olympiad events take advantage of the natural curiosity of each child, and allow for in-depth hands-on experiences.  By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved. Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on group participation.

Goals of Science Olympiad

  • To bring science to life, to show how science works, to emphasize problem solving aspects of science and the understanding of science concepts.
  • To develop teamwork and cooperative learning strategies among students.
  • To make science education more exciting so more students will enroll in science courses and engage in other science activities like science reading, fairs, meetings and field trips.​

Former members are not guaranteed a spot on the team.  Each member must attend tryouts and be selected to be part of the team.

Who can compete?

​ONE team per school 
3rd - 5th grade students

18 Students (with a max of eight 5th graders)
